Celebrating National Recovery Month
National Recovery Month - September 2012
I am excited to celebrate National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month this September. This month demonstrates that recovery from addiction is possible and commemorates all the men and women who have successfully recovered from drug and alcohol addiction. It is important to remember that drug addiction is a disease that can be treated and we must do everything in our power to help those people who need it the most.
As Co-Chair of the Congressional Addiction, Treatment, and Recovery Caucus, I know how important it is continue to educate and raise awareness about addiction issues in hope of decreasing the negative stigma that comes with this disease. I would like to extend all my hope and support for those who are continuing to struggle with substance abuse as they move forward on this difficult journey.
