Congressman Tim Ryan Announces $1.27 Million for Ohio North East Health Systems of Youngstown and Asian Services of Akron
Youngstown, OH — Congressman Tim Ryan (OH-13) today announced two U.S. Department of Health and Human Services grant awards of over $1.27 million – with Ohio North East Health System of Youngstown receiving $747,863 and Asian Services of Akron receiving $529,315. The grant awards, funded by the American Rescue Plan, will allow for the expansion and construction needed to continue the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ryan voted in support of the American Rescue Plan when it passed the U.S. House of Representatives on March 10, 2021. It was signed by President Biden on March 11, 2021.
“With the COVID-19 pandemic continuing to surge, these funds will provide much needed support for Ohio North East Health System and ASIAN Services as they care for Northeast Ohioans,” said Congressman Ryan. “Ohio North East Health System and ASIAN Services are leaders in our communities and these funds will allow them to continue to provide the health care and services needed here in Northeast Ohio."
These grant awards are part of more than $6 billion to Community Health Centers nationwide, which will be able to use the funds to expand operational capacity during the pandemic and beyond, including modifying and improving physical infrastructure and adding mobile units. These awards will also increase access to vaccinations among hard-hit populations, as well as confidence in the vaccine by empowering local, trusted health professionals in their efforts to expand vaccinations.
