Congressman Tim Ryan Announces $250,000 for Trumbull County Development Project
Warren, OH – Congressman Tim Ryan (OH-13) today is announcing the approval of a grant of $250,000 from the Appalachian Regional Commission to the Trumbull County Board of Commissioners for sanitary sewer service in the Belmont Park area of Liberty Township. The money complements state and local funding for the almost $3.5 million project, which will provide a sewer line serving 107 households and 18 businesses. Sewer service will also be provided to a newly-built elderly care facility that will provide employment to approximately 150 people.
“This project will create jobs, increase quality of life for residents, and increase property values,” said Congressman Tim Ryan. “This is a great example of a well-thought out public-private partnership that will benefit homeowners, seniors, and businesses in the area. I commend the Trumbull County Board of Commissioners for their hard work in bringing all of this to fruition, and I thank the Appalachian Regional Commission for their assistance in helping to fund this worthwhile project.”
“This project will service a low to moderate income neighborhood in an Ohio EPA consent decree area that includes over 120 residences and businesses including the new $30 million Shepherd of the Valley Elderly Care Facility on Tibbetts Wick Road,” said the Board of Trumbull County Commissioners. “We sincerely appreciate the efforts of Congressman Ryan’s Office to secure the ARC grant funds that will be used to make this project a reality.”
“We are pleased to be a partner with this project that will increase economic development in bringing approximately 128 new jobs to our Appalachian District and assist with the improvement of public infrastructure in Liberty Township,” said Kathy Zook, Eastgate Council of Governments ARC Program Manager.
In 2007, Congressman Ryan helped spearhead legislation that added Mahoning, Trumbull and Ashtabula counties to the Appalachian Regional Commission – making funding for this projects and countless others possible.
