Congressman Tim Ryan Announces $285,000 to Brookfield, Lordstown, Ravenna, and Weathersfield Fire Departments
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tim Ryan (OH-13) today announced $285,856.19 in federal grant awards to the fire departments of Brookfield, Lordstown, Ravenna, and Weatherfield Township. The awards are part of the 2020 Assistance to Firefighters Grant for Operations and Safety – which funds professional training, wellness, fitness programs, equipment, personal protective equipment, and supplies that support operations and safety.
Brookfield Township: $101,255.24
Lordstown Township: $51,628.57
Ravenna Township: $47,555.24
Weatherfield Township: $85,417.14
“The firefighters of Brookfield, Lordstown, Ravenna, and Weatherfield Townships, like all of our firefighters and first responders across the country, serve their communities day in and day out. They put themselves in harm’s way to protect our community. We are forever indebted to them for their service and sacrifice,” said Congressman Ryan. “I will always do what is necessary to ensure our first responders are provided with what they need to do their jobs safely and effectively.
This federal investment is part of the competitive FY 2019 Assistance to Firefighters Grant of $315 million awarded to fire departments, certain EMS organizations, and state fire training academies around the nation. The program is administered by the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency in cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration.
