Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tim Ryan (OH-13) is today announcing a grant of $446,742 to the Portage Area Regional Transportation Authority (PARTA) to replace, rehabilitate, and purchase buses and related equipment and to construct bus-related facilities. This federal investment is part of approximately $454.6 million in Fiscal Year 2020 competitive grant funding for transit bus projects across the nation.
“Residents of Portage County rely heavily on PARTA to provide needed transportation, and I am pleased to announce this federal investment that will serve seniors, people with disabilities, Kent State University students and those who need transportation to their jobs,” said Congressman Ryan. “I will continue to work hard to provide needed resources to improve and expand public transportation in my Congressional District.”
The Grants for Buses and Bus Facilities Program from the Department of Transportation makes federal resources available to replace, rehabilitate and purchase buses and construct bus-related facilities. Funding is available for use for four fiscal years.
