Congressman Tim Ryan Announces Grants for Student Support at Eastern Gateway Community College and Kent State University
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tim Ryan is today announcing two Student Support Service grants from the Department of Education: a $274,586 grant for Eastern Gateway Community College and $527,601 grant for Kent State University. Student Support Services is one of eight TRIO programs targeted to serve and assist low-income individuals, first-generation college students, and individuals with disabilities to move from middle-school through college graduation.
“Through these grants, both Eastern Gateway Community College and Kent State University will be able to provide necessary services and support to ensure that students can attend and graduate from these schools no matter their financial situation,” said Congressman Tim Ryan. “We need to continue removing the barriers to a college education for everyone who wants to get one.”
The awards to EGCC and KSU are part of over $313 million awarded for SSS programs across the country that will serve students of limited English proficiency and students from groups historically underrepresented in postsecondary education, students with disabilities, homeless students and those in foster care.
