“Providing federal assistance to those who protect our family and friends is one of the most important things I can do for our firefighters and other first responders, especially in difficult times like this,” said Congressman Ryan. Our firefighters put themselves in difficult situations every working day, and I will always see that they have the resources they need to do their job. It is why I will always support the Assistance to Firefighter Grant Program and continue to advocate for increased funding.
The primary goal of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) is to meet the firefighting and emergency response needs of fire departments and emergency medical service organizations. Since 2001, AFG has helped firefighters and other first responders obtain critically needed equipment, protective gear, emergency vehicles, training, and other resources necessary for protecting the public and emergency personnel from fire and related hazards.
