Congressman Tim Ryan Announces More Than $241,000 for Alliance, Austintown, and Akron Fire Departments
Warren, Ohio – Congressman Tim Ryan (OH-13) today announced over $240,000 in federal grant awards to Alliance, Akron, and Austintown Township. The awards are part of the 2020 Assistance to Firefighters Grant – COVID-19 Supplemental Program (AFG-S), which will provide funds for the purchase of PPE and related supplies for our nation’s first responders during the coronavirus response.
“Our firefighters put themselves on the front lines every day. I am proud to help provide them with the resources necessary to safely do their jobs,” said Congressman Ryan. “Our first responders have had our backs in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, now it is time for us to have their backs.”
Austintown Township: $12,426.36
The purpose of Assistance to Firefighters Grant and the COVID-19 Supplemental Program are to award grants directly to fire departments to enhance their ability to protect the health and safety of the public, as well as that of first-responder personnel through the purchase of PPE and essential supplies related to the COVID-19 response. These grant awards are part of $100 million in supplemental funding provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
