Congressman Tim Ryan Announces over $1 Million for Coventry and Girard Fire Departments
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tim Ryan (OH-13) today announced two Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grants totaling over $1 million to the Coventry and Girard Fire Departments. The Coventry Fire Department has been awarded $903,151.71 and Girard has been awarded $135,580.95. These grants will ensure that both fire departments will be able to maintain their current number of firefighters or increase that number if needed.
“The fire departments of Coventry and Girard are to be applauded for their commitment to the protection of their communities, especially during these uncertain times,” said Congressman Tim Ryan. “These men and women put their lives on the line day in and day out to protect our community. This important funding will ensure they have the support they need. I will always work to provide our first responders with the resources and staffing necessary to safely do their jobs.”
The Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grants, provided through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), was created to provide funding directly to fire departments to help them increase or maintain the number of trained, "front line" firefighters available to their communities.
