Congressman Tim Ryan Announces Over $1.2 Million Grant for Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport

Youngstown, OH – Congressman Tim Ryan (OH-13) today announced a grant award of $1,291,240 for the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport from the U.S. Department of Transportation. The award will fund the rehabilitation of the runway lighting and reconstruction of the apron pavement and taxiway.

“I proud to announce that this important federal funding is going to the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport. It’s a critical investment in both our airport and community. YNG is a vital resource to the Valley and the Youngstown Air Reserve Station, and we must continue to provide the necessary funding to keep its infrastructure up to date. I will keep fighting in Congress to bring these federal funds back home,” said Congressman Tim Ryan.

Description: Reconstruct Apron, Reconstruct Taxiway, Rehabilitate Runway Lighting - 05/23, Rehabilitate Taxiway Lighting [Taxiway C, G, H, H1], Rehabilitate Taxiway Lighting [Taxiway F, T]

  • This project rehabilitates the existing Taxiway C, G, H, and H1 lighting systems that have reached the end of their useful lives and require rehabilitation to enhance safe airfield operations during low visibility conditions.
  • This project rehabilitates the existing Taxiway F and T lighting systems that have reached the end of their useful lives and requires rehabilitation to enhance safe airfield operations during low visibility conditions.
  • This project reconstructs 400 feet of the existing Taxiway J1 pavement that has reached the end of its useful life.
  • This project reconstructs 1,991 square yards of the existing apron pavement that has reached the end of its useful life.

This project rehabilitates 5,002 feet of the existing Runway 5/23 lighting system that has reached the end of its useful life and requires rehabilitation to enhance safe airfield operations during low visibility conditions.
