Congressman Tim Ryan Praises Energy and Water Appropriations Committee for Approving $5 Million for Energy Incubators
Washington, DC – Congressman Tim Ryan (OH-13) praised the House Appropriations Committee for approving $5 million in the Fiscal Year 2020 Energy and Water Appropriations bill for a competitive funding opportunity for energy incubators.
“I am very pleased to see that the committee approved one of my key priorities in funding energy incubators in the 2020 Energy and Water spending package,” said Congressman Ryan. “As a community that is fortunate to have an energy incubator in our backyard, I understand the importance of having this provision included.”
Report Language accompanying the Energy and Water Appropriations Bill:
The recommendation provides $5,000,000 above the budget request for the Office of Technology Transitions for a competitive funding opportunity for incubators supporting energy innovation clusters. These incubators should have the support of state, regional, and local entities. The Department is directed to provide within 120 days of awarding funds a report on the impact these incubators have on job creation and workforce development, including in low-income communities and under-represented entrepreneurs.
