Congressman Tim Ryan Slams GM for Showcasing Foreign-Made Car at Detroit Tigers’ Opening Day

GM is highlighting the Chevrolet Blazer, which is made in Mexico

Washington, DC – Congressman Tim Ryan (OH-13) today slams General Motors (GM) for showcasing a foreign-made car, the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer RS, at the Detroit Tigers’ Opening Day at Comerica Park. The 2019 Chevrolet Blazer RS is made in Mexico. This comes four months after GM decided to close five plants in North America, including those in Lordstown, OH, and Detroit, MI.

“In the wake of GM closing five plants across the country, it’s a slap in the face for American workers to showcase foreign-made cars alongside America’s pastime. It’s not enough that thousands of families lost their livelihood or were forced to move away from their communities, but now they must watch as a foreign-made car is propped up in Motor City of all places. This tone-deaf display is an insult to their tireless work and dedication to this company. GM should know and do better,” said Congressman Ryan.

GM is also showcasing the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT Trail Boss at Opening Day, which is made in both America and Mexico. Questions regarding where the particular model on display was made should be directed to GM.
