Congressman Tim Ryan Statement on New Location for Youngstown VA Outpatient Clinic
Washington, DC – Congressman Tim Ryan (OH-13) issued the following statement regarding the announcement of a new location for the Youngstown VA Outpatient Clinic which will enhance the VA’s ability to provide primary, mental health, and specialty services to the more than 10,500 Veterans served by the clinic annually.
“I’m incredibly excited about the new location for our VA Clinic. More than 10,000 veterans rely on the Youngstown Clinic for primary and mental health services, and this move will enhance and expand the VA’s ability to provide them with the care they deserve,” said Congressman Ryan. “I’m especially looking forward to the integration of the Patient Aligned Care Team model focusing on specialized care, wellness and disease prevention. We need to make wellness programs, like yoga, meditation and mindfulness, more readily available to our Veterans so they can heal from the trauma they face every day.”
According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the VA will sign a $24,740,800, 20-year, lease agreement with Michael Downing Realty Limited to build and lease the property to be located at 1815 Belmont Ave., Youngstown, Ohio 44504. Clinic operations are anticipated to move in October 2020 from the current 25,847 square foot facility to the new 35,344 square foot facility less than a mile away.
The new location’s space and layout will allow for use of VA’s Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model. This PACT approach to care allows for patients to receive specialized care via a team consisting of a primary care provider, nurse care manager, clinical associate and administrative clerk, ensuring care is more personalized and team-based with a focus on wellness and disease prevention.
