Congressman Tim Ryan Statement on the Passing of Youngstown Bishop Murry

Youngstown, Ohio – Congressman Tim Ryan (OH-13) issued the following statement in response to the death of Youngstown Bishop George Murry, S.J.:

“I am saddened to hear of the death of Bishop George Murry. He was a great man and a strong and committed leader not only to the Catholics in the Diocese of Youngstown, but to the community-at-large. At a time when we face so many issues that need the attention of good leaders, his voice will be deeply missed.

“In addition to his work in the Diocese, Bishop Murry was nationally known for his work as the Chair of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Catholic Education. I offer my condolences to the Diocese of Youngstown, and to the family of Bishop Murry. May he rest in God’s peace.”
