Ryan: Working-Class Communities Like Ours Will Lead the Way to Building Back Better

Youngstown, Ohio – Congressman Tim Ryan (OH-13) issued the following statement today in support of President Biden’s Infrastructure Proposal unveiled in a speech today in Pittsburgh, PA.

“It is no surprise to me that President Biden chose the Midwest as the place to unveil his transformational jobs and infrastructure plans. The President knows that it was working-class Americans in communities like ours who built this country into what it is today, and it will be communities like ours that lead the way to ‘build back better’ and transform the future of America.

“As the President said today, ‘this is the moment to reimagine and rebuild a new economy.’ I couldn’t agree more. President Biden is calling to rebuild our crumbling roads and bridges; upgrade electrical grids; provide high-speed broadband to all; modernize schools; train Americans for the jobs of the future; increase wages; and revitalize American manufacturing.

“I am proud that the American Jobs plan calls for the electrification of the auto industry, including our school buses, diesel trucks, and public transportation vehicles. With the investments already made here in Voltage Valley in battery and vehicle production, and the research in clean-energy being done here by local companies and our energy and software incubators, we are well-positioned to not only take full advantage of these investments, but to continue to lead the way in the future of clean energy innovation.

“The President’s jobs and infrastructure plan is a history-making opportunity to ensure the economy works for everyone and enhances our quality of life. I plan to work hard across the aisle to make this an infrastructure bill that will help Ohioans and Americans across the country realize their dreams of a good job, a good education, and a chance to take care of their families.”
