Congressman Ryan's Statement on United States International Trade Commission Investigation into Illegal Steel Dumping

Apr 1, 2013 Issues: Helping Working Families

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tim Ryan released the following statement today in response to the United States International Trade Commission Investigation into the illegal dumping of steel products into the United States. A petition was filed yesterday with the ITC by Thomas Steel Strip Corporation of Warren:

“I strongly support the petition filed by Thomas Steel Strip of Warren, who, along with the United Steelworkers of America, believe their industry is unfairly threatened by imports from Japan of diffusion-annealed, nickel-plated steel flat-rolled products.

“I have had the privilege on more than one occasion to testify on behalf of the American worker before the U.S. International Trade Commission. We need to ensure that unfair trading practices don’t put people out of work. I have always said that the American worker is the best in the world—all we need to compete is a level playing field.”
