Congressman Tim Ryan Responds to U.S. Supreme Court Ruling on Ohio Early Voting
Washington, DC – Congressman Tim Ryan today responds to the United States Supreme Court’s refusal to reinstate Ohio’s “Golden Week,” during which individuals could register to vote and cast their ballots at the same time.
“I am extremely disappointed by the Supreme Court’s decision to allow Ohio Republicans to continue to restrict voting rights in our state. We know Early Voting and the Golden Week increases voter turnout and gives more citizens a chance to have their voices heard. Over the last two presidential elections alone, tens of thousands of Ohioans have counted on the Golden Week to register to vote and cast their ballots. Voting in elections is one of our country's most sacred freedoms and we should do everything in our power to make it easier, not more difficult,” said Congressman Ryan.
