Calls Sunday Morning Statements ‘Dangerous’

(Washington, D.C.)  Congressman Tim Ryan (OH-17) released the following statement regarding Senator Richard Shelby’s and Senator John McCain’s comments this Sunday suggesting that GM should go bankrupt.

“Senator McCain’s and Senator Shelby’s statements about GM are not only dangerous to our economy but to our national security as well. The auto industry and its suppliers employ over two million Americans and they also produce our tanks, troop transport and military support vehicles,” said Congressman Tim Ryan. “To suggest that we should allow GM to fail, after Senator McCain was all too willing to suspend his Presidential campaign and fly to Washington, D.C. last fall in order to bail out Wall Street and insurance executives, shows how out of touch he is when it comes to our manufacturing and  industrial base.  We are in an economic crisis and American families need our help."
